[Technical] Looking for business/PM cofounder — open-source urban mobility platform

Been building an open-source platform for urban transit planning for ~2.5 years. We model bike networks, bus routes, low-traffic neighborhoods, congestion zones. Growing academic community, 2k GitHub stars.

The problem: I'm an engineer and I've been terrible at getting advocacy groups and transit agencies to actually use this. Need someone who can own the business and PM side — outreach, partnerships, monetization strategy.

Big caveat: project stays open source. I know that makes monetization harder but it's non-negotiable. Thinking consulting/enterprise support model.

Ideal cofounder: experience in B2G sales, urban planning, or civic tech. Someone who can talk to city officials without their eyes glazing over.

Not a fit for me personally but wanted to flag — check out Code for America's network. Lot of people there who straddle the tech/government line and might be exactly what you're looking for. Also govtech accelerators like Starta or Urban-X.

Love the mission. Quick thought on monetization: look at how Mapbox and OpenStreetMap coexist. The open core model works when your hosted/managed version saves cities 6 months of DevOps. You'd be surprised how much municipalities will pay for "we handle the infrastructure" when the alternative is hiring a sysadmin.

This is really interesting. I spent 3 years doing growth at a govtech startup and the sales cycle with municipalities is brutal but predictable once you crack it. The open-source angle actually helps with procurement — removes vendor lock-in objections. Two questions: what's your current revenue (even if zero)? And are you full-time on this or side project?
