In May, the interplanetary probe Psyche flew past Mars and took thousands of images with its multispectral camera, creating a detailed time-lapse of the planet. The footage shows Mars from a thin crescent to its icy southern pole.

Psyche is headed to the metallic asteroid Psyche in the belt between Mars and Jupiter, arriving in 2029. The Mars flyby acted as a gravity assist, boosting the probe’s speed and adjusting its trajectory with minimal fuel use.
